Amy Atkinson

amy-atkinsonAmy is Youth Chair, Under 15 & 16’s Head Coach and Head of Girls’ Rugby at Old Whitgiftian RFC in Croydon, where she has been coaching for almost 10 years. She has recently started the girls’ section at Whits – The Whits Saffron Stormers - who are the first ever girls’ rugby team in the history of O.W.R.F.C, since 1929.

Outside her rugby work, Amy is a Doctoral researcher in Education, Psycho-Social Linguistics and Modern Foreign Languages and has worked in a number of schools across London and in Austria. She has worked in Education in various capacities for over 25 years. She is also Co-President elect Associate of Newnham College, Cambridge, where she mentors young women, both at Cambridge University, and those who aspire to study there, with a particular focus on encouraging applications from young women from historically under-represented groups at the university.

Currently participating in the RFU’s Leadership in Union programme, Amy is delighted to be working with Surrey Rugby on the RFU’s Rugby United project to reflect the values of equity and inclusion on a wider platform to widen participation in our game. As part of this process, we will be understanding and seeking to address any barriers to participation in rugby, in multiple formats.
