Looking for a sport where you can have fun and be part of a team? Rugby union is one of the fastest-growing sports for girls.
The introduction of new rules, skills and pitch sizes is carefully managed to support girls’ development.
Girls' Pathway
- Before 6 years old girls can take part in Early Years Rugby.
- From 6-8 years girls play tag rugby, usually in mixed teams with boys.
- From 8 years old teams gradually transition into contact rugby. Playing in mixed teams, which may be boys and girls combined or single gender teams.
- At 11 years old girls and boys separate. The first age band for girls only rugby is U12’s.
- After this girls’ play in two-year age bands U14 (year 8/9), U16 (year 10/11) and U18 (year 12/13)
- U12's & U16's can play in Surrey Cup and Values Festivals
- U16's & U18's can play in Surrey Cup and Waterfall Cup and 12's & U16's can play in Surrey Cup and Values FestivalsValues Festivals
