Rob joined the Metropolitan Police in the mid 80’s and was posted initially to Lambeth - sporting a magnificent mullet - in various squads, then to Brompton as an acting uniform Sergeant. He returned to the CID and worked as a Detective in specialist departments and spent the last 10 years of his 30 year service on Rape Teams Sex Offenders and Domestic Violence Units. Rob worked with vulnerable children, young offenders and finally as a Supervisor on the Missing Persons and Cold Case Review Unit.

Rob played rugby for his school Old Wandsworthians, and in the late 70’s played at Wimbledon RFC. Around 2009, when his son was old enough, Rob joined newly formed Junior Rugby Club Old Wimbldonian Warriors, the Junior wing of Old Wimbledonians RFC. Initially with only a handfull of boys, 17 seasons later they are proud to have 500+ registered players and 90+ coaches.

Rob has been a Head Coach, Team Manager, Forwards Coach, Discipline Sec, First Aid Co-ordinator, Rugby Safe Lead, and is still currently Safeguarding Officer, Vice President and Car Repositioning Technican (runs the car park..! ).

Since around 2007 Rob has Volunteered for the Injured Players Foundation, which looks after catastrophically injured players, and as Assistant CB Safeguarding Officer. He was appointed Surrey and Middx Safeguarding Manager by the RFU some 7 - 8 years ago. Rob also ran several after school rugby clubs in primary schools that never experienced Rugby before in Wimbledon and Colliers Wood and took two teams into borough finals.
