SCRFUCT

Surrey County Rugby Football Union Charitable Trust

Our History

The trust was established on the 22nd March 1960 by six gentlemen who wanted to establish a charitable trust, which had the objectives of

  • advancing education; and
  • relieving persons in necessitous circumstances
  • relieving persons suffering from sickness
  • effecting any other charitable purpose which in the uncontrolled discretion of the Trustees may appear to be incidental or conducive to the advancement of mental and physical education.

The provision was that preference would be given by the Trustees to the needs of persons who regularly participate or have regularly participated in sport and to the needs of their children and other dependents but this proviso was not  absolutely mandatory upon the Trustees and accordingly they might have, if they considered it expedient at any time and from time to time effected the objects of the Charity as they defined them, in accordance with the powers conferred by the trust deed in any manner they thought fit and as if the proviso had not been stated in the trust deed.

Full details of the trust deed are available on The Charity Commission website, as are all financial submissions.
