Darrell has been with Esher RFC since 2017 when his son started playing in the Minis U5s. After a few weeks standing on the sidelines he was asked to help coach. In 2018 he become more involved taking on the Team Manager role, where you will still see him in the role today. When things started to get back to normal after Covid in 2021, Darrell took on the role of Minis Fixture Secretary and held the position for 3 years. In that time his dedication for the sport and passion made a significant impact within the Minis group and the club community. He continues to be a cornerstone of the Esher Rugby Club community.
His commitment to continuous improvement is evident through his completion of several Rugby Football Union (RFU) courses. These courses have equipped him with coaching techniques and a thorough understanding of player development, safety, and well-being. His dedication to education reflects his desire to provide the best possible experience for all players under his guidance.
Darrell's passion for rugby can now extend beyond Esher Rugby Club to the wider Surrey rugby community. He can now actively share his knowledge and enthusiasm, contributing to the growth and development of the sport across the county where he hopes to help foster a strong rugby culture and support the development of young players throughout the region.
If clubs wish to have approval for holding festivals, playing players up or down an age group or going on tour then Darrell is the person responsible to approve this. If you are looking for support or guidance on Mini Rugby or are a club looking to start a Mini section, then please do get in touch.
