Surrey Rugby Junior Chair Vacancy

The Junior Chair is in many ways the guardian of the future of Surrey Rugby and oversees the transition of players from Minis through to the senior set up, and plays a major role in ensuring the offering for the junior rugby matches, RFU Regulation 15 and Age Grade Calendar requirements.

You will be responsible for leading Youth Rugby within Surrey, working with Surrey Competition Managers, Club Age Group Managers, Lead Coaches, Youth Players and Parents.

You will work alongside the Chair of Surrey Competitions to ensure the County vision, ethos and strategy is reflected throughout Surrey Junior Rugby.

You will be a member of the Surrey Competitions committee alongside, Minis Chair, Chair of Women & Girls Rugby, Chair of Senior Rugby, and Chair of Innovation and Growth which meets quarterly.

You will sit on the Age Grade Calendar committee alongside the Chair of Competitions, Surrey Schools College and University representative, Chairman of Representative Rugby, and a link from the local Academy Partnership.

What you will do:

  • Create and lead a team of people to deliver rugby for 12 - 19 year olds within Surrey Rugby
  • Arrange and chair Junior Committee meetings with the Age Group Competition Managers
  • Ensure effective communication with Age Group Managers on the competition offering.
  • Work with the Surrey Rugby Office to ensure website is up to date and relevant.
  • Contribute to the Competitions end of season report
  • Work alongside Chair of Competitions, Age Group Secretaries and Host Venue Links to coordinate the running and playing of junior rugby tournaments including: Waterfall Cups, Quins Cups, County 7s, Cross Pitch 7s, and County Touch festivals.
  • Make sure players, coaches and parents are familiar with the core values of the game – Ensure those who are new to the game understand that it can be played and enjoyed by people of all shapes and sizes whilst adhering to Regulation 15 requirements.
  • Ensuring effective communication is held between Managers and Age Group Secretaries.
  • Ensure that competition regulations are reviewed and signed off for each season.
  • Communicate with the office on competition structures, draws and results.


Surrey Rugby Junior Age Group Manager Vacancy 2019-20

Surrey Rugby are looking for Age Group Competitions Managers for the following age groups in 2019-2020:

  • Under 12s
  • Under 14s
  • Under 15s


The Role:

The Surrey Age Group Manager is in many ways the key role in Junior rugby as you are vital in the communication of age group specific information to all the Club Managers, Coaches and Fixture Secretaries for each particular age group. This position plays a major role in ensuring the offering for the junior rugby matches regulation 15 and Age Grade Calendar requirements.

You will be responsible for leading the competitions offering for your age group –

You will work with Chair of Junior Competitions to ensure the County vision, ethos and strategy is reflected throughout each age group.

You will be a member of a Sub-Committee of the Surrey Juniors Committee alongside Vice Chairs, other Junior Age Group Managers, A Regulations & Appeals appointed person and any other Co-opted person which meets quarterly.

  • Manage the communication with club managers & coaches for your appointed age group.
  • Attend Junior Competitions quarterly meetings to input on issues for your age group.
  • Work with the Surrey Rugby Office to ensure the Surrey website is up to date and relevant for your age group.
  • Contribute to the Competitions end of season report for your age group.
  • Work alongside Junior Chair, & Host Venue Links to coordinate the running and playing of junior rugby tournaments including: Waterfall Cups, Quins Cups, County 7s, Cross Pitch 7s, and County Touch festivals.
