Shawnton De Four Inaugural Annual Memorial Match Friday 1 Sep 2017
THIS IS RUGBY
Our wonderful friends at Rosslyn Park Nomads hosted Old Emanuel 2nd XV to remember Shawnton De Four who died on the pitch 4 March 2017 in a match between these two sides.
Last Friday a large crowd gathered in remembrance to enjoy the evening of playing, BBQ, beers, raffle and auction and raised several thousand pounds for heart charity CRY.
Many players have attended St George's Hospital to have their hearts checked (free) for any underlying problems.
Rosslyn Park organised the tremendous evening
The players gathered for a minutes silence ensuring they had an arm around an opposition player as they were bonded in the emotions of the dreadful experience last season.
A splendid competitive, high paced match followed. It incredibly went down to the last few minutes and Park equalised with a try, and then Old Emanuel epitomised the heart and emotion of the evening to gain the last try to win 25-20. Susie De Four presented the trophy congratulating both teams and thanked the crowd for such an attendance.
