'Surrey Rugby, Lambeth Council & the RFU grow rugby in Lambeth'
Archbishop's Park, Wednesday 21st June, 2017
This week we launch O2 Touch Rugby in Lambeth. Our aims are; to get more people more active and engaged through social rugby, offer more volunteering opportunities and to grow rugby in urban London. We will be showcasing rugby at the official Archbishops Park launch event 2-4pm Friday 23rd June.
Regular Wednesday sessions will be run by Surrey Rugby commencing 21st June 6-8pm. Sessions will run all year round and be based at the new 3G pitch at Archbishop's Park, just a 6 minute walk from Lambeth North Station and a stone's throw away from the Palace of Westminster. The programme will be expanded to include Friday and Saturday sessions as the year progresses.
The London Borough of Lambeth currently has minimal rugby activity and only a small handful of clubs around the outskirts. Developing rugby activity in urban Inner City areas like Lambeth is a priority. The London Borough of Lambeth, Surrey Rugby and the RFU, with the support of O2 are delighted to introduce this new programme.
This is the first of several initiatives that Surrey Rugby and the RFU are developing to encourage the growth of rugby into non-traditional areas for the game.
